Courtney Russell had a goal: to "break down the misconception that eco-friendly clothing is ugly, uncomfortable or unaffordable." With that in mind, she decided to create a fashion show that would demonstrate how "in reality, eco-conscious fashions can be incredible garments made of really nice materials such as bamboo or organic cotton that are great to have in your wardrobe."

The second annual EcoLavish Fashion Show, hosted by Russell's Half Past Lavish event production company, hits the runway on Oct. 9 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Engine Room in Georgetown, where everything from the venue and refreshments to the makeup and, of course, the fashions have been selected because of their eco-friendly nature.

EcoLavish is billed as Seattle's only eco-friendly fashion show featuring up-and-coming and established designers from the Pacific Northwest.

This year's show will feature the creations of Deco Modiste, whose head designer, Kimberlee Iblings, grew up in a seamstress family and has a costume design background; Texture Clothing, whose goal is to create eco-friendly clothing that is both functional and filled with soul; and Six Degrees, whose Australian-born designer, Renee Corrick, graduated from the New York Fashion Academy and was recently featured in Seattle Magazine. Lizzie Parker will close the show with designs from her stylish and on-trend self-named line.

When the doors open, guests will be welcome to enjoy organic, all-natural smoothies and cocktails by Pulp Catering, including a Divine Intervention (made with blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and vodka) and a Breakaway (made with mango, pineapple and rum).

The runway show begins at 8 p.m. and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Afterward, guests are encouraged to relax on eco-friendly furniture in the lounge area and shop jewelry by Otra Vez and Flutter Budget.

VIP tickets for the 21-and-over show are $50 and include runway seating and a swag bag filled with eco-conscious goodies such as lip balm, candles and soap. General admission tickets are $25. Both can be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com and, if the show is not sold out, tickets may be purchased at the door at an increased price to be determined. The Engine Room is located at 5890 Airport Way S., Seattle, WA 98108.
