Reusable shopping bags -- which ones are best?

The story in today's Seattle Times, "Seattle officials propose 20-cent grocery-bag fee," has generated some discussion around our water cooler about reusable bags.

I have a bunch of Whole Foods bags that I can never seem to remember to take with me when I shop, but I love my ChicoBag, which was given to me as a gift (great gift idea, by the way and Mother's Day is coming up). It's so small I can keep it in my purse and it's there when I need it. It's also really sturdy. I'm checking to see if it's sold locally, but their Web site lists several online sites where you can buy it. (Note that it's about $5 from the ChicoBag Store, but $8 on gaiam.com. Beware!)

So, my question is: Are there other favorite reusable shopping bags out there? Which ones do you use? Where do you buy them locally? Do you remember to take them with you when you shop?

I love the envirosax (despite the stupid name) because they are small enough that I can just leave one in my coat pocket and always have it with me. I know you can get them lots of places, I got mine at Click! Design That Fits in West Seattle.

I brought four back from the UK.
Tesco and Sainsbury have the best bags ever.

Go to Ikea and purchase the BIG BLUE heavy duty bags they sell for 50 cents each.

for those of you that keep forgetting your reusable bags (you've got bagnesia); you've gotta get a Bagnesia Reminder Kit- you'll never forget them again and they come with a great bag to get you started.

Target has surprisingly high quality large bags for $1.50. Their handles are reenforced, their bottoms are sturdy, they fit a lot of items & the best part, they fold into a nice little square & have a little button that snaps it all together so that you can hang it on the wall until the next time you go shopping. It's the first one in the picture. It's about the size of 1.5 large paper grocery bags.

here's some bags that fold up in to themselves small enough to put in your pocket. they're hand made, and some are recycled...

I love my Akina fold out bags. The bags are chic, sturdy, and compact. I bought the attached zip away shopper for just $6.99.
Check out their bags at www.akinashop.com

I just bought an Ityse reusable shopping bag set and I love it!

I've used it for so much more than just grocery shopping.

Here's their website: Reusable Grocery Bags

I have an Ad bag from Alchemy Goods. It's made from recycled ad banners. It's been great for groceries and other shopping errands. It has a really great grip handle made from recycled inner tubes that helps pad your shoulder when you have heavier loads. Oh, and its made in Seattle.

Talk about a great way to remember your reusables!! iTySE has the BEST idea!! Their mesh bags "scrunch up" into the handy outer bag. The BiTySE will carabiner on to your purse, bike or shopping cart. The iTySE is so pretty, I carry one as my purse most of the time. The neat thing is 1) the bags are super durable & washable. 2) no need to fold, roll or try to fit it in a carry case. 3) Easy to remember! Check them out: www.ityse.com

I found a great website: www.shoppingbagsetc.com with lots of varieties. Great nylon bags in individual pouches. Low prices.

BlueAvocado.com has the cutest and most functional bags. All the bags fold up and fit into each other as a system - genius! Check em out at http://www.blueavocado.com

Also, they have this cool pledge that you can take with this 8 foot plastic bag ball that is rolling around the country:

I love my BlueAvocado bags. They're big out here in Texas. They come in as a kit or you can just by the individual bags.

I got a kit and they're perfect for grocery store runs but fold and store nicely in my pantry.

I always get compliments on them too!! Plus, I think they're pretty new so not everybody has them... yet.

Loving them! www.blueavocado.com

They look great and good quality too.I use them for more than just shopping, like for kids sleep overs and going to the beach. I found some Great deals

I get lots of complements on my BAGGU Bags that I got from a local company, Fashion Ethic. I looked at a lot of bags, and these were by far the best for features and cost! Only $8 each, or less/bag in a package and great colors, really sturdy and lightweight. Perfection!

I found these bags online and got a set of 10. They were pretty cheap. They fold up. I just put a few in the glove box of my car and toss them into my purse when I go to the store. They carry more than those plastic bags the stores have. They even have a pocket when they are unfolded. I got them at this site http://BagItUp.ecrater.com.
